After you decide on the placement, it’s time to think about color. If you decide to go this route, remember the purpose of a focal point is to be eye-catching. It can stand up to a big and bold shade. The hue you choose is entirely up to you, but those who want to be extra on-trend may want to consider using Ultra Violet, Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year or a jewel tone.
Going green is here to stay. And nothing says green like solid, low-VOC bamboo cabinets. Because bamboo grows so quickly, installing bamboo cabinets means less deforestation of the environment. Look for high quality, solid bamboo cabinets (instead of ply or veneer) and ask for recommendations from friends. Bamboo is harder than Oak. Your bamboo cabinets will look as good as new for years to come.
As tempting as it may be to paint your cabinets with the doors and hardware (including hinges) still attached, don’t do it — that “time saver” will cost you in the long run. Remove the cabinet doors and drawers, making sure to label where they came from. A simple piece of masking tape with a location written on it will save you a lot of hassle later.
